From 2 to 8 October 2017, on the occasion PAD London, Dumonteil Gallery pays homage to the animal in a selection of bestiary-themed limited edition design pieces, sculptures and painting, giving a glimpse of the gallery’s selection in Paris, New York and Shanghai.
The booth will exhibit contemporary collectible design pieces in bronze by Daniel DAVIAU and Jean-Marie FIORI, with the sumptuous “Dumbo” chair by Hubert LE GALL in Mohair velvet and varnished wood.
Another work by LE GALL, the humorous “Good-Dog Floor Lamp” will illuminate the space in the form of a small Terrier balancing the lamp in his jaws, like a stick he’s just caught for his owner.
Bronze sculptures by Jean-Marie FIORI and Daniel DAVIAU in the shape of tropical birds will bring a jungle-feel to the booth. The ornithological figures are “Pelican” by Daniel DAVIAU, cast in a limited edition of 8 plus 4 artist’s proofs and the iridescent jade-green parrot of Jean-Marie FIORI, also in a limited edition of eight.
On the walls, the booth will showcase “The Encounter”, a dream-like anamorphic fantasy painting of a mythical landscape by Rubén Fuentes. Fuentes is an emerging Cuban contemporary artist, who has exhibited at the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature in 2015, then in December 2016 at the Dumonteil Gallery where he conceived an exclusive series of work around the theme of the animal figure, seen from the perspective of dreams and shamanism.
