BOOTH EG-36 | COLLECTIBLE DESIGN HALL
A series of vases from the 1930s and the 1950s reproduced by the Manufacture de SÈVRES in recent years, of which forms and the design were mainly Art Deco style (particularly the decors by Albert Martine), is on view in Design Shanghai 2016.
The dinner service called Uni, realised by Paul Charlemagne in 1953 for the Embassy of France in Beijing, is also shown. The artist chose to decorate the rim with gilded doves with fine gold, a peaceful sign. It is a veritable political message from France to China in the political climate at that time.
BOOTH EG-33 | COLLECTIBLE DESIGN HALL | Special Exhibition curated by PERFECT CROSSOVERS
Deers Console and Cat Bench from Jean-Marie FIORI will be on view, as part of the special exhibition curated by Perfect Crossovers.
Jean-Marie Fiori's art ranges from paintings, frescoes and sculptures, and he also completed many prestigious works of decorative art. In 2010, he created a series of animal-themed sculptures called the Garden for the EXPO Shanghai China. Fiori speaks repeatedly of his “Childhood in Art” and he also compares himself as a castrato who has a voice of a child in the body of an adult.
